Our ‘Going Places’ service offers flexible, affordable, community-driven transport for community groups, clubs, health providers, and even groups of friends.

Our fleet

  • 4 Toyota HiAce mini-buses (43 passengers total)
  • 3 buses: 11 seats each
  • 1 wheelchair-accessible bus (with 10 seats or 7 seats including wheelchair)
  • All buses have air-conditioning, seat belts, luggage space, first aid kit, and comprehensive insurance

Important information

  • Bookings are first-come, first-served
  • Cancellations: 3+ working days notice to avoid $50 fee
  • Invoices sent in the first two weeks of the following month
  • $50 cleaning fee if bus left excessively dirty
  • Bus pick-up/return: Latvian Hall – 4 Clark Street, Wayville (subject to change with notice)

Driver options

  1. MCCSA Volunteer Drivers:
    • Available for day trips (not overnight)
    • $40 travel reimbursement applies
    • Easiest to book for weekday trips (9am-5pm)
  2. Your own registered drivers:
    • Must complete MCCSA registration process (2-4 weeks)
    • Required for overnight and multi-day trips
    • No travel reimbursement required

What information do I need to provide when booking?

Minimum information to secure a booking:

  • MCCSA registration form (we’ll provide this if you’re not registered)
  • Date and time of trip
  • Pick-up and drop-off locations
  • Number of passengers

Additional helpful information:

  • Driver preference (MCCSA volunteer or your own driver)
  • Any special requirements (e.g., wheelchair access, luggage help, specific amenities)

Important notes:

    • Estimates are okay if you’re still planning
    • We can pick up from multiple locations if time allows
    • If you need an MCCSA driver, we will need accurate details before contacting them
    • Book as early as possible to improve chances of getting an MCCSA driver

Who can drive the buses?

There are two options:

  1. MCCSA Volunteer Drivers:
    • We arrange these drivers for you
    • They pick you up and drop you off at your chosen locations
    • Available for day trips and on some weekends (not overnight)
    • $40 travel fee applies
    • Limited availability, so book early
  2. Your own Registered Drivers:
    • You choose and organise these drivers from your group
    • Available for all trips, including overnight
    • No extra travel fee

Important notes:

  • All drivers must be registered and trained by MCCSA
  • Registration takes 2-4 weeks (see Question 7 for details)
  • Choose your driver option when booking

How do I volunteer or register as a bus driver?

To become a registered driver, you need to complete the MCCSA registration process (takes up to 2-4 weeks):

  • Provide required certificates
  • Fill out personal information forms and declarations
  • Attend an induction session
  • Complete a short driving demonstration with the Transport Coordinator

Don’t worry about the driving demonstration! We support you with:

  • Test drives around the city
  • Time to get comfortable before committing

Remember:

  • Our buses are like big vans – not difficult to drive
  • You only need a regular driver’s license
  • A good driving record is important
  • A positive attitude is key!

How are bookings prioritised?

First come, first served.

We don’t have priority lists.

When will I get the invoice?

In the first two weeks of the month after your booking.

Are there any extra fees?

The basic hire fee is all-inclusive, but there are some potential extra charges:

  • $40 fee if using an MCCSA volunteer driver
  • $50 cleaning fee if the bus is left very dirty

Important notes:

  • It’s the driver’s responsibility to sweep and wipe the inside of the bus at the end of the booking
  • If you clean the bus properly, you won’t be charged the cleaning fee

Remember, our service is not-for-profit. All fees go towards operating costs and supporting community projects.

Where do I pick up and return the bus?

Latvian Hall – 4 Clark Street, Wayville (may change with notice)

What if I need to cancel my booking?

Please cancel at least three working days before, to avoid a $50 cancellation fee. Exceptions for extreme weather or driver health issues.

What if there’s a problem at the bus depot?

Call the Transport Coordinator (0481 948 728) or MCCSA office (8345 5266). Report any unusual activity.

How often should I update my group’s information?

MCCSA requires up-to-date records for all groups.

  • Contact the MCCSA office as soon as possible if any information changes
  • Even if you haven’t finalised your booking details, let us know about any updates

How often do drivers need to update their information?

All drivers (both MCCSA volunteers and your own registered drivers) need to update:

  • Personal information and licensing details (driver’s license copy, Driver’s License History Report, and Drivers Declaration): Every 12 months
  • Police clearance: Every 3 years
  • GP Health Check:
    • Every 5 years for drivers under 70
    • Every 3 years for drivers 70 and over
    • Immediately if there are changes to the driver’s physical or mental health

For your own registered drivers:

  • You’re responsible for ensuring their information is up to date
  • Inform MCCSA of any changes as soon as possible

For MCCSA volunteer drivers:

  • MCCSA manages their information updates
  • We’ll ensure their details are current before assigning them to your booking

Please note: MCCSA will follow up with all drivers who have out-of-date information at the time of each booking.
