Zainab Jimie

Zainab is a 25-year-old Eritrean Australian Muslim woman, lawyer, and community leader, currently serving as the Youth Representative on the MCCSA Board. She brings a strong passion for advocacy, leadership, and service to every space she occupies. Professionally, Zainab works in criminal and family law, where she is dedicated to supporting individuals and families through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. This work has deepened her ability to listen, empathise, and advocate—skills she actively applies in her community roles.

As the eldest of four siblings, Zainab was raised with a strong sense of responsibility and care for others. She has been happily married for almost two years and balances her professional commitments with personal passions, including playing competitive netball and spending time in the kitchen, where she finds joy and creativity in cooking.

Outside her legal career, Zainab co-founded Sister Circle, a faith-based support group shaped by the lived experiences of Muslim girls and women. What began as a small gathering has flourished into a thriving community of over 40 sisters who meet weekly, creating a safe and empowering space for connection, reflection, and growth. She also serves as Vice President of the Eritrean Muslim Youth in Adelaide, where she works to strengthen cultural identity and create meaningful opportunities for young Eritrean Muslims, with a focus on uplifting and inspiring the next generation.

Coming from a minority and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, Zainab understands the critical importance of representation and belonging. Her involvement with MCCSA is deeply meaningful, providing her with a platform to amplify youth voices, foster inclusivity, and contribute to building a more connected and resilient South Australian community. Driven by purpose, Zainab is committed to sparking change and making a lasting difference.
