Meet Fayrouz

“As a community leader of ALCASA, I have experienced firsthand the tremendous benefits that come from being a member of MCCSA, a dynamic research and advocacy organisation.”

– Fayrouz

My name is Fayrouz. I was born and grew up in Lebanon, and migrated to Australia in 1994. I am Chair and Co-Founder of the Arabic Language Association of SA (ALCASA). I connected with Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA) in 2015 through ALCASA, an organisation with a mission to support diversity and enhance intercultural communication by creating a social network showcasing South Australian Arabic culture.

As a community leader of ALCASA, I have experienced firsthand the tremendous benefits that come from being a member of MCCSA, a dynamic research and advocacy organisation. The membership provided us with free access to the MCCSA Community Hub to host our language and cultural workshops. The central city location was easy and convenient for our community members to attend, regardless of where they live across metropolitan Adelaide. In ALCASA’s early years, MCCSA provided invaluable support for us to develop our first Strategic Plan and Governance documentation. They always kindly provide judicious advice and timely information on grant writing when needed. More recently, MCCSA’s Community Connections Program has created pathways for ALCASA to initiate collaborative projects with other organisations, including local Arabic-speaking communities.

It has been uplifting to work alongside MCCSA, which fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment.
