Anniversary Celebration
In 2025, MCCSA proudly celebrates 50 years of supporting, advocating for, and empowering multicultural communities in South Australia. Throughout the year, we are marking this milestone with events that honour our shared history, celebrate our vibrant present, and look ahead to a future of inclusion and connection.
This page features highlights from our anniversary celebrations — a collection of photos, videos, and moments that reflect the diversity, strength, and spirit of our community.

Government House Reception
Our 50th anniversary celebrations began with a special reception hosted by Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia, Frances Adamson AC, at Government House on 4 February 2025.
In her speech, Her Excellency warmly acknowledged MCCSA’s legacy as “a uniting force for community-driven, culturally diverse activity in our state,” recognising the dedication of staff and volunteers who have “advocated for the needs of multicultural communities, provided new migrants with access to services, and shared their unique cultures with our broader society.”
She reflected on South Australia’s rich diversity, calling it “one of South Australia’s greatest assets,” and commended MCCSA’s role in fostering inclusion, cohesion, and opportunity for 50 years.
Her Excellency also honoured our history and encouraged us to look ahead, saying, “I trust this anniversary serves as an opportunity to reflect on your rich history, celebrate the contributions of the communities you represent, and set the tone for the future.”
We are grateful for the Governor’s continued support and proud to begin our anniversary year with this moment of recognition.

Harmony Day Lecture
On 18 March, MCCSA proudly partnered with Reconciliation SA, The Don Dunstan Foundation, and Equal Opportunity SA to host the annual Harmony Day Lecture — commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The Bradley Forum at UniSA was filled with community leaders, policymakers, and citizens united by a shared commitment to fostering equity and inclusion. Mr Giridharan Sivaraman, Race Discrimination Commissioner from the Australian Human Rights Commission, delivered a powerful keynote, highlighting systemic challenges and offering practical pathways toward eliminating racial discrimination across workplaces and communities. A thoughtful Q&A session, led by Commissioner for Equal Opportunity Jodeen Carney, invited meaningful discussion on how we can translate dialogue into action and embed change at every level.
This event served as a reminder that while gatherings like these inspire and connect us, lasting change comes from sustained, collective effort. We look forward to continuing these conversations and encourage everyone to reflect on how we can all contribute to a more just and inclusive South Australia.
