MCCSA celebrate International Women’s Day 8 of March 2018 at the Adelaide town hall. The well attended event was hosted by the city Lord Mayor Martin Haese and his wife the Lady Mayoress Genevieve Theseira-Haese.

12 women from CALD community background were proud recipient of the first MCCSA quiet achievers award. The award recipients were;

5. Ms Tina Karanastasis
6. Mrs Vera Sočković
7. Ms Vivien Shae
8. Miss Wendysia Sen
9. Mrs Patricia Filidor Whitelaw
10. Mrs Maria Dnistrjanski OAM
11. Mrs Margota Pukitis
12. Mrs Lily Michailov

In his opening remarks the Lord Mayor praised the award recipients for their volunteering role in their various communities. He talked about South Australia’s pioneering role in the fight for gender equality and also commended the MCCSA for the important role it plays in bringing Adelaide’s diverse communities together and acknowledging the important role played by CALD women in the community development sector.

The Chairperson for the MCCSA, Miriam Cocking thanked all in attendance and wished the award recipients all the best as they continue their outstanding roles in their communities.
