With profound sadness we announce The passing of Ron Tan former President of the MCCSA.
A Singapore-born Australian Citizen, Ron Tan Bock Kim arrived in Australia in 1957. He was a Board member of the Migrant Resource Centre (MRCSA) from1979 to 1991. In 1996 he became a member of MCCSA Management Committee, serving as Secretary (1998 – 2001) then President (2002 – 2005, 2010-2013) and 1st Vice President (2006-2009).

The Multicultural Communities Council of South Australia (MCCSA) Chairperson Mrs Miriam Cocking said Ron is a true multicultural icon who dedicated his time to our CALD communities.

Ron spent most of his life working in the Multicultural sector and is one of the founding members of the MCCSA. For his contribution to multiculturalism he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1991. He was also a recipient of the Centenary Medal and a graduate of the University of Adelaide in Civil Engineering.

“It is a sad loss for our multicultural communities; Ron worked tirelessly for our diverse communities. We have all benefited from his work one way or the other and he will be sorely missed” said Mrs Cocking.
